Book of Faith
The Book of Faith is an initiative. As an initiative, it has programmatic elements, but an initiative is more than just doing a Bible Study or a devotion. The Book of Faith Initiative is meant to deepen the use of scripture in the life of the congregation and in member’s personal lives. When a congregation asks, “How can we get started with the Book of Faith,” the answer is more than just picking up a Bible Study, but asking the larger question of how a congregation might engage with the scriptures in new ways.
There are a number of ways your congregation can get on board with the Book of Faith Initiative. Here is a check list of first steps you can consider:
A first step could be to form a team of 5-7 people who could learn about the Book of Faith Initiative, explore the resources below, and then begin by choosing a couple of action steps for the congregation.
Provide a few copies of the Synod Devotional Reading Guides in your information center. These guides are posted each week. These guides can supplement other devotional material a congregation provides.
Augsburg Fortress is coming out with many bible study materials. The front page of Augsburg Fortress contains a link to Book of Faith Resources.
